Terry Douris

County Councillor for Bridgewater (Markyate, Flamstead, Gaddesdens, Potten End and Northchurch)

Terry says:

“I am proud to be standing as your Conservative Candidate in the County Council elections.

“I have been a County Councillor in another part of Dacorum for the past 8 years. During that time I was Deputy Executive member for Education and am currently the Cabinet member for Highways where I have overseen many changes especially in customer service. I have lived in Dacorum for over 40 years and am currently the Dacorum Borough Councillor for Ashridge which incorporates Little Gaddesden and Potten End with Nettleden.

“I  have 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren but sadly lost my wife to cancer some years ago. I am currently a governor at 2 schools in Hemel Hempstead.

“I recognise that Bridgewater is a large electoral division with a diverse range of communities and look forward to working  with everyone across the area.”

Supporting village and rural life

Terry understands the importance of village and rural life and will work to protect these from inappropriate development. He already has an excellent reputation for attending the Parish Councils in the Ashridge ward. Every County Councillor has £10,000 to support local projects and Terry looks forward to receiving requests for the forthcoming year, especially from smaller groups.

Terry will...

  • Support the County Council in working with local planning authorities and developers to reduce the damage to verges and footpaths from  construction traffic.
  • Actively support the continued maintenance and improvements of our highways and footways as resources allow.
  • Work with the County Council following the conversion to LED street lighting to enable more variable arrangements for part-night lighting.
  • Continue to support the provision of high quality education for our young people.
