Richard Roberts serves as Hertfordshire County Councillor for Kings Langley, representing a wide and diverse area that includes Bourne End, Felden, Bovingdon, Flaunden and Chipperfield.
First elected to Hertfordshire County Council in 2003, Richard brings over two decades of experience in local government. Over that time, he has developed a strong track record of leadership and delivery, working across a wide range of key services that impact residents’ everyday lives.
Richard has held a number of senior roles within the County Council, including serving as Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Children’s Services, and Public Health, as well as responsibilities for partnerships and performance. He has also served as Chairman of Hertfordshire’s Health and Wellbeing Board, helping to shape how health and care services are delivered across the county.
In 2021, Richard was appointed Leader of Hertfordshire County Council, reflecting his experience and commitment to public service. In this role, he focused on supporting residents, strengthening local services, and ensuring the county continues to grow in a sustainable and responsible way.
Before serving at County Council level, Richard was also a Dacorum Borough Councillor for ten years, including four years as Chairman of Planning, giving him a strong understanding of both local and strategic issues.
Alongside his County Council responsibilities, Richard is a Trustee of Community Action Dacorum, reflecting his ongoing commitment to supporting local organisations and community initiatives.
With a background in geology and environmental studies, and experience working internationally in the energy sector, Richard brings a broad perspective to his work in local government. He is passionate about helping residents live fulfilling lives in the communities they call home, while protecting Hertfordshire’s environment and ensuring strong public services for the future.
