Borough Councillor for Watling (Markyate, Flamstead and Great Gaddesden)
“I have lived in the area of Markyate/Flamstead for the last 38 years. I brought up my 3 children here and have been involved with many community activities. I headed up the local Pony Club branch for 13 years. I have seen the area develop from a mostly rural village community to a busy local hub and commuter belt community.
“I am a trained nurse, working in NHS hospitals such as the L & D including improving access to services for disabled people and was awarded an MBE in 2003 for services to patients.
“My principal interests are many! They include my support for the countryside, farming and footpaths, for healthcare and community care for the elderly. I hate fly-tipping, local vandalism and petty crime. I want to see the impact of the proposed Luton Airport development curtailed and with it greater control of flying over our villages. I think that our villages have a lot to be proud of, not least excellent local care groups, local policing, proactive churches, and good nursery and junior schools.”
