Old Town Halloween Returns: Councillor Neil Harden Delivers on His Promise

There’s excitement in the Old Town once again as the much-loved Halloween Spookfest is officially back!

When Conservative Councillor for Hemel Town Neil Harden stood for election, he promised residents that he would reinstate the Old Town Halloween celebrations after they were abruptly cancelled by the Liberal Democrat controlled Council.

True to his word, Neil has delivered.

Residents and local businesses are celebrating the return of one of our most popular community events. For years, the Old Town’s Halloween festivities brought families, visitors, and traders together, filling the High Street with laughter, creativity, and community spirit.  After the event was mysteriously cancelled by the Lib Dems, many feared it might never return. Businesses saw a sharp drop in footfall, and families were left disappointed by the lack of community events that once gave the Old Town its unique charm.

Councillor Harden made it clear that restoring these events was a top priority. Since being elected, he has worked closely with local traders, residents, and community organisers to bring Halloween back to life, ensuring that the Old Town’s historic streets are once again lit up with pumpkins, costumes, and laughter.

“I promised residents that I wouldn’t stand by and let the Liberal Democrats take away the spirit of our town,” Neil said. “Old Town businesses and families deserve better, and I’m proud to have helped bring back a much-loved event that means so much to our community.”

The reinstated Halloween Spookfest marks more than just the return of a local celebration, it represents a renewal of pride and community spirit in Hemel Town. It’s a clear sign that when residents elect someone who listens and takes action, promises can become reality.

So this October, as cobwebs, costumes, and fun return to the High Street, the people of Hemel can once again celebrate a town that knows how to come together, thanks to Councillor Neil Harden’s commitment and delivery.
