Putting Safety First at Gade Valley Primary

Putting Safety First at Gade Valley Primary

Your Hemel North West Conservative Borough Councillors are seeking local residents, parents and road users for their views on road safety outside Gade Valley Primary School following concerns raised by members of the community.

Residents have contacted Councillors in recent months about traffic levels and vehicle speeds near the school, particularly during busy drop-off and pick-up times. In response, your local Conservative Councillors are now gathering wider feedback from the community to better understand the scale of the issue and identify what improvements may be needed.

The feedback will help inform our lobbying of Hertfordshire County Council, which is responsible for highways and road safety measures in the area.

Local Conservative Councillors said that listening to residents is an essential first step before formally lobbying the County Council for any potential changes.

“We’ve heard from several residents who are concerned about road safety outside Gade Valley Primary School, particularly at the start and end of the school day,” said Councillor Fiona Guest, former County Councillor for Hemel North West.

Possible measures that could be considered, depending on the feedback received, include clearer signage, traffic-calming measures, or other safety improvements designed to make the area safer for pupils, families and residents.

Councillors emphasised that gathering evidence from the community will help strengthen any case put forward to the County Council for further investigation or action.

“We want to make sure that if we approach the County Council about this issue, we are doing so with clear evidence from the local community,” Councillor Guest added. “The safety of children travelling to and from school is always a priority”.

Residents who live near the school, parents of pupils, and anyone who regularly travels through the area are encouraged to share their views to help inform the next steps.

Once feedback has been collected and reviewed, Hemel North West Conservative councillors will assess the responses and determine whether to formally request that Hertfordshire County Council review road safety arrangements around the school.
