Woodhall FarmPolice Tackle Motorbike MenaceThe Police are using their powers to crack down on the nuisance motorcycling that has been making life a misery for local people. The first time nuisance motorcyclists are caught, they are given a warning, and a letter is sent to the registered keeper, or the parents if the rider warned is a juvenile. The letter explains what will happen to the bike if the nuisance riding happens again and also points out the road safety hazards of such riding and the effect that it has on local residents’ quality of life. The second time, the bike is seized, even if the rider is on someone else’s bike because the order is against the person not the vehicle. To get the bike back, the owner or parents must pay a fee of £105.00 plus £12.00 a day for storage. (If the machine is proved stolen, the Police will pay.) Crime figures getting better in Woodhall FarmRecent statistics released by Hertfordshire Police show an overall drop in reported crime in Woodhall Farm. Woodhall was the second safest place to live in Hemel Hempstead last year with 54 crimes per thousand heads of population. The best place was Boxmoor (10 crimes per thousand heads) and the worst was the Town Centre (101 crimes per thousand heads). Multi Agency MeetingsNumerous agencies have been meeting regularly to tackle local issues in Woodhall. These have included Housing Associations, Police, DBC, HCC, NHS Trust, DCVS and local school heads. Issues that have been highlighted include: Anti Social Behaviour, Youth Provision, Litter, Fly Tipping, Grass Cutting and Housing Issues. Colette and Steve have been active members and have contributed their local knowledge and helped get projects off the ground. Youth Worker for WoodhallThanks to the sterling efforts of the Multi Agency Group, and especially to the Housing Associations for providing funding, Woodhall is to get its first full time team of youth workers. During the summer two fun days were organised outside the Adventure Playground to get young peoples opinions on projects they would like to get involved with. Steve and Colette supported the events and had a great time themselves. Our thanks to Hertfordshire Groundcare for funding and organising the days. Woodhall Neighbourhood WatchWoodhall now has 13 watches covering 395 households. More are needed to support all 6455 residents and we urge anyone interested to contact the Dacorum Watch Liaison Officer Phil Anslow (01442 271020) to join and make Woodhall safer. Phil was Hertfordshire’s first NW officer and has helped set up 646 watches across Dacorum. Call Phil if you want to know if there is a watch in your area or to receive information on setting one up. Dacorum is the third safest place to live in the UK in terms of your risk of ever experiencing violence. School Travel PlansAs a result of all three Woodhall Schools submitting Travel Plans to Herts CC, Traffic Regulation Orders are being applied to the Zigzag and double yellow lines. This means that parking on the lines will be enforceable and a safer area for children and parents will be created. New PavementsA number of pavements have become potholed across Woodhall Farm and Herts CC have started to replace whole sections to avoid filling individual holes. If you have problems with potholes in roads or pavements you can phone Herts CC on 01438 737320 or on their Internet site at www.hertsdirect.org. If all else fails let us know online and we will take up the matter on your behalf. Woodhall Farm Community CentreSteve and Colette are trustees of the Community Centre.
